On December 7th, 2017 Great Plains Business Development Center hosted a GPTC Business Client/Student panel in which business representatives and Great Plains Technology Center students shared their stories and experiences regarding how Great Plains Technology Center has benefited them in their professional and career goals to local Oklahoma legislators. CEO and founder of Red River Science & Technology, LLC (RRST), Army Brigadier General (Retired) Jesse R. Cross, presented in the panel, speaking on how he founded Red River Science & Technology, and how Great Plains Technology Center assisted him with additional tools to help start his business. Mr. Cross explained that, when starting Red River Science & Technology, though he had the basics down, he needed to help to make sure his plans were on the right track. Great Plains provided that assistance.
The Great Plains Development Center continues to support RRST’s growth with meeting spaces, offices and opportunities to network and engage other small businesses and community members. “It’s essentially a one stop shop that nurtures small businesses until they are able to take off on their own,” Cross explained. “It adds credibility by providing a structure, instead of trying to manage your business from your own home or having the worry of high overhead cost from leasing an office.” Overall, utilizing the services offered by Great Plains has aided Red River’s CEO to continue his organizations growth in typical military fashion – crawl, walk, run. He has moved beyond the home office setup, moving to the incubator is his walk phase. Before too long, he will be taking off at a run toward his own office complex and nurturing new small businesses to follow in his wake – “Empowering Entrepreneurship.”
