Derek Blazek joined the Red River Team in October 2020. With a decade of experience in Information Security and Compliance, Derek is dedicated to protecting sensitive information across industries. His career has spanned both the financial sector and government contracting services, where he has played a crucial role in ensuring regulatory compliance and strengthening cyber defense strategies.

A significant portion of Derek's expertise lies in navigating the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements, which are essential for federal contractors. As a CMMC Certified Professional (CCP), Derek is skilled in guiding organizations through the rigorous security protocols mandated by the Department of Defense. This certification validates his in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity practices, risk management, and compliance standards required for securing government contracts. He works closely with RRST’s clients to help them meet these evolving requirements and achieve their security objectives.

Before joining RRST, Derek gained valuable experience working with a non-profit credit union, where he focused on research and development and systems automation. His contributions to automating critical systems improved operational efficiency, streamlined compliance reporting, and enhanced data protection protocols. This background has given him a unique perspective on the intersection of technology, security, and business operations.

A graduate of Cameron University, Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a concentration in Information Assurance and Security. During his time at Cameron University, Derek had opportunities to collaborate with members of municipal government services, which laid the foundation for his cybersecurity career. Through his university connections, Derek also delivered a presentation at Midwestern State University on software supply chain risk mitigation strategies.
